Gross! Let me spare you from tasting to find out for yourself and look at the picture, never order from them. For a place called tamale chicken the worst thing on the plate was the tamale and everything tasted horrible. See picture one that is the cracked dry tamale has delivered from The tamale kitchen. The tamale tasted 5 days + old, had cracks from dryness after during in a week of evaporating back into cornmeal. So gross. Disgustingly gross. I took one bite and threw it in the trash. Surprisingly, everything else tasted equally as bad. Put it in the trash. Avoid like the plague. So many other restaurants that won't make you want to vomit. I'm not exaggerating. It was actually that bad.

This is my go to breakfast burrito shop since I was a child and the flavor still carries today.
THE BURRITO: I have literally been going to this place since I was in highschool. It's been a long time and everytime I take a bite into the egg potato bacon special, it's like I'm tasting it for the first time, every time. The special sauce is just so delicious, it's everything you could ask for in a burrito. Warm, delicious, cheesy, and perfectly seasoned to make the rest of the ingredients pop.
THE SIMPLICITY: This place doesn't have to do anything fancy to achieve the greatmess that they have. They take what is there and make it their own. There is nothing more I could ask for than the egg potato bacon.
Please stay open. You guys are seriously one of the greatest things I look forward to in terms of restaurants and I hope you never go. Keep it up!

I like their tamales. It’s really the best place to go in the area.
I recently tried the breakfast burrito for the first time. I ordered the bacon, egg, potato with sausage and “special”. It was really tasty but I was disappointed by small amount of egg. They may as well just not mentioned it as an ingredient. It’s really more of a potato burrito. I could also barely notice the Chile and cheese added with the “special” option. It was also not spicy at all. Maybe it was just a bad burrito day for some reason. I’ll give it another chance but based on my recent experience I would say you can do much better at Santiago’s.

Such mixed feelings about this place. I love their breakfast burritos but anything else on the menu is like a wild card. My experience with the Tacos al Carbon has been so inconsistent, for my order today it didn't include the guacamole which is part of it. On previous times I received the guacamole but it was watered down and seemed out of date. I order the tacos al carbon once a year thinking 'maybe this time will be different' but it isn't. I'll just stick with the breakfast burritos, at least those are consistent.

FIRST OFF, this place usually has a line in the morning to order but it's worth it. It's not a generic Mexican like so many others.
Tamale Kitchen has classic mexican dishes with flavor. They are not like a lot of average mexican restaurants where the sauces are just runny and lack flavor because of no seasoning or salt. The green chile is thicker and flavorful and it doesn't quickly run off the food it's put on. The enchilada sauce is red and thick with deep flavor. I ordered a egg and potato breakfast burrito special (green chile inside) and also smothered because I love the green chile. I also ordered a beef enchilada and you can see from the picture a nice thick sauce with deep flavor. The green tamale is one of my favorites, it's also spicier than the red tamale.
Again, not a generic mexican restaurant that you'll typically find.
