Recently I decided to take a well deserved day off this week. I enjoyed a beautiful fall ride on the Single-track at Rampart with my best friend Shane. Satisfied, but extremely parched, we decided to drop by the Sprucewood for a few ice cold beverages and a delicious double cheeseburger. From the moment you enter the rustic cabin saloon, it's as if you've entered into a time machine and have been transformed back into a simpler place and time where the music is familiar, the service and atitude from the staff is efficient and friendly and the patrons are happy to jump into positive conversations about the beautiful ride, weather and basic bike talk. Enjoy a game of pool or sit by the stone fireplace and soak up the atmosphere before stepping back into the world that you just took a much needed break from.
I've driven past this place several times and finally decided to stop in for a bite to eat. I was not disappointed! The menu is simple, but the food was very good, definitely a proper burger. Great patio to sit outside when the weather is nice and the staff was fantastic. I'll definitely be back.
After attending a Celebration Of Life for a dear friend in a nice park (Dott Park) although so very hot there! Low and behold we found a sweet little watering hole! At Sprucewood Inn we enjoyed wonderful service and yummy green chili burgers along with tasty bloody marys and cool beers.
So for those who haven't been here before, this is a historic little diner that people come to as much to relive old memories as they do to make new ones. This place has two types of customers; people who who have been riding the Rampart Range state riding area all day and are parched and hungry, and the locals who live and work in the area. Everyone is equally nice! They have poured a concrete patio since last time I've been there, and have nice seating outside now for the summer months. There is NO deep fryer here, so no French fries or chicken fingers with their burgers, but Lays chips or a bag of Doritos works just fine. An assortment of bottled beers keeps everyone happy, and they even have iced tea and lemonade for my Arnold Palmer! We were riding at Rampart last weekend when I was there and boy was this place a welcome sight, but I'll drive up for lunch on a weekend just to get the beauty and fresh air to rejuvenate my spirit. Finally, if it's winter time, make sure to call first to know they are open, as sometimes the employees are socked in with snow........ so enjoy and tip well 😄
What a special kind of place. We found the Sprucewood on a camping trip. The kitchen was turned off but when four starving ladies stop by, the gentlemen at the bar were kind enough to fire it back up. Burgers are amazing, the regulars are fun and the beer is cold! Thank you! We will be back.
